The silent heroes of American strength are the farmers of the nation. It is back-breaking and grueling work from long before sun up to long after sunset.
On January 8, President Trump spoke before the American Farm Bureau Annual Convention in Nashville, Tennessee to explain how the newly passed GOP tax bill will benefit what is a way-of-life for essential workers in our country, reports Breitbart.
As always, the President led off with how he has slashed regulations, ever the bane of farmers.
“We are also putting an end to the regulatory assault on your way of life. And it was an assault,” the Farm Bureau quotes President Trump as telling the crowd.
In particular, Trump mentioned Obama’s disastrous 2015 ‘Waters of the United States rule’, which greatly expanded the types of water bodies to be regulated by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Prior to 2015, only large ‘moving bodies of water’ were regulated, but Obama added “ponds, headwaters, wetlands and other water bodies that feed into larger water areas” to the list, which greatly impacted farms and farm owners, reported The Hill last year.

“It sounds so nice, it sounds so innocent,” Trump said of the 2015 rule, “and it was a disaster. People came to me about it and they were crying – men who were tough and strong, women who were tough and strong – because I gave them back their property and I gave them back their farms. We ditched the rule.”
That alone would have earned him the enduring praise of the crowd, but there was much more good news to deliver.
“All American businesses, including American farmers, will be able to deduct 100% of the cost of new equipment in the year you make the investment. That is something that I think is going to be the sleeper of the bill, you deduct it all in one year as opposed to over many years, that’s a tremendous thing.”
Privately-held farms need equipment in order to have a chance at competing with farm conglomerates and by allowing farm owners to deduct 100 percent of equipment costs, that requirement just became much more easier to complete.
The President then delivered what turned out to be a big hit with the crowd and it had to do with six key words.
“And from now on, most family farms and small business owners will be spared, and you’re gonna be spared and it really is the word punishment, of the deeply unfair estate tax known as the death tax — so you can keep your farms in the family.”
That prompted a standing ovation and gave the President a ‘yuge’ smile.
